Strike It Out is a grassroots Tasmanian charity built on a simple belief: no one should be left behind. For people experiencing homelessness, hunger, or sudden hardship, they provide the most fundamental human necessities — food, warmth, safety, and dignity — at the moments they’re needed most.
Their work fills a vital gap in Tasmania’s social safety net. Every week, volunteers head into local streets and parks to deliver hot meals, essential supplies, and genuine human connection to people who are sleeping rough or struggling to meet basic needs. For many, these interactions are the only stable point of care in their week.

Strike It Out delivers a wide range of support services across Launceston and surrounding regions, including:
Volunteers prepare and distribute warm, nutritious meals to people who are homeless or in crisis. Their outreach teams also travel to find those who may not be able to reach a meeting point.
Sleeping bags, tents, warm clothing, shoes, hygiene items, toiletries, blankets and basic care packs. These items provide immediate comfort and survival in cold Tasmanian conditions.
When families fall into sudden hardship — job loss, illness, domestic upheaval — Strike It Out quietly steps in with emergency food and essentials. This stabilises households and prevents deeper, long-term harm.
People experiencing homelessness often lose their belongings to weather, theft or council clean-ups. Strike It Out’s secure lockers give them a safe, reliable place to store precious items — a simple service that restores dignity and personal safety.
When someone is at immediate risk, the organisation does what it can to secure short-term shelter. It’s compassion in action, delivered without judgment.
Strike It Out operates with heart, humility and a deep understanding of what dignity means.
They are not just delivering food or supplies — they are restoring humanity.
Every meal served, every sleeping bag handed out, every supportive conversation offered reflects their belief that people deserve respect and care, regardless of circumstance. Their volunteers know the names, the stories, the struggles, and the hopes of the people they serve.
And in a state where homelessness is rising, their role has never been more critical.
Courage to Innovate — Even When It’s HardStrike It Out has never been afraid to try bold solutions for homelessness.
One of their most innovative efforts was the development of mobile sleep-pod trailers designed to give people safe, weather-protected places to sleep. These units included security features, solar power, privacy screens and lockers — an entirely community-driven response to a growing problem.
Even though these trailers faced regulatory challenges, the project demonstrated something important:
Strike It Out refuses to give up on finding new ways to protect the most vulnerable.
Their determination shows the kind of leadership that strengthens communities — the willingness to try, fail, adapt and try again.
Strike It Out strengthens Tasmania in ways that aren’t always obvious but are deeply meaningful:
They prevent hunger, cold exposure and medical emergencies.
They protect vulnerable people from isolation and despair.
They support families before hardship becomes crisis.
They help people hold onto dignity during the toughest moments of their lives.
They encourage community compassion, volunteerism and collective responsibility.
They are often the first responders when someone falls through the cracks, and sometimes the only steady support a person has.
Their work multiplies outward — strengthening people, families, neighbourhoods, and the broader community fabric.
Strike It Out welcomes support from individuals, businesses, clubs and community groups. Donations, volunteer time, food contributions and word-of-mouth all help keep their services running.
Every act of support helps someone stay warm, fed, safe and connected — when they need it most.
Strike It Out is a shining example of Tasmanian community spirit. Their contribution is simple, compassionate, and transformative: providing basic necessities, emotional support and hope to those experiencing homelessness or crisis. They stand beside people at their lowest moments and help restore dignity, stability and human connection — strengthening the entire community in the process.

Each pack contains essential supplies such as clothing, hygiene products, food items, toiletries, blankets, warm gear and other practical necessities to help people stabilise their situation.
These packs prevent hunger, illness and distress, offering people immediate relief at a time when they may have nowhere else to turn.

Strike It Out’s crisis packs have supported countless individuals and families, giving them a lifeline in moments where even the smallest care can change the course of a day — or a life.

Strike It Out provides hot, nutritious meals twice a week to people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Launceston. Volunteers prepare the meals, serve them in person, and then head out on outreach runs to find individuals sleeping rough who may not be able to attend set locations.
These meals do far more than fill stomachs — they restore dignity, human connection, and a sense of safety. For many people doing it tough, Strike It Out’s meal service is the only reliable support they receive all week. This consistent, compassionate presence helps vulnerable community members stay nourished, warm, and connected, especially in colder months when survival becomes harder.
