Open Day Connects Launceston Families With Local Support Services

Bringing people together is often best done over food and shared stories. On May 15, 2025, Starting Point Neighbourhood House held an open day in Launceston, Tasmania, that welcomed local families and community members to connect with both one another and a variety of local organisations. The event created a space for genuine interaction, resource sharing, and enjoyment.

The open day drew a crowd that moved between information stalls hosted by groups such as Mission Australia, CVGT Employment, Youth Health North, and Community Housing Group. People were able to chat directly with service providers, ask questions, and pick up useful brochures and resources. Rather than simply collecting pamphlets, many visitors stayed to browse what was on offer at the op shop sale or to enjoy a bowl of home-made soup.

A free sausage sizzle BBQ created an inviting atmosphere, encouraging people to relax and talk while eating together.
