May 2026 Mental Health Services Calendar Distributed in Launceston

Expanded Access to Local Mental Health Support

In May 2026, Starting Point Neighbourhood House prepared and distributed a detailed monthly calendar of services for the Mental Health Centre Launceston. This calendar provided a clear overview of available activities and support options for community members, reflecting the broad range of services coordinated at the Centre during the month.

The calendar outlined various weekly and one-off sessions accessible to local families and individuals at no cost. Programs included Salvation Army Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support, visits from Open Arms social workers and psychologists, and SMART Recovery Group meetings. Other recurring offerings involved Dialectical Behaviour Therapy groups by ACMHS, a Healing Voices peer support group, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, a Wellness to Recovery group, and mindfulness drop-in sessions.

Contributions to Wellbeing in Launceston

In addition to therapeutic and support groups, the calendar listed free workshops and self-empowerment training, Richmond Futures homelessness support sessions, and gatherings run by the Butterfly Foundation for those in recovery. Through these combined services, the Mental Health Centre Launceston aimed to reach a diverse range of people in the local area seeking assistance for mental health, substance use challenges, trauma support, or community connection.

By compiling and distributing this calendar, Starting Point Neighbourhood House made it easier for Launceston residents to find support that matched their needs without barriers such as cost or complicated referral processes. This practical approach meant that anyone in the city or greater Launceston region could understand which services were being offered, when to attend, and how to connect with helpful resources.

Though the direct impact was local and the number of people supported depended on attendance, the easy-to-understand calendar format reduced confusion and encouraged wider engagement with support options. The effort focused on making mental health and recovery services more approachable, timely, and visible for the people who needed them, reinforcing the role of Starting Point Neighbourhood House as a connector in the Launceston community.
