Beginner Ukulele Classes Offered for All Ages in Ravenswood August 2025

Bringing Accessible Music to Ravenswood

Starting Point Neighbourhood House began offering beginner ukulele lessons for the local community in Ravenswood, Launceston, Tasmania, starting on Wednesday 27 August 2025. The classes, led by Jackie Barnes, are scheduled weekly from 2 to 3pm and cost $5 per person. The goal is to create an inviting space for people who have never played a musical instrument or are at the very start of their ukulele journey.

Creating Space for Learning and Connection

By keeping lessons open to all learners, Starting Point Neighbourhood House has made it possible for individuals and families around the area to try something new in an encouraging setting. The lessons provide a structured hour with a supportive instructor, giving participants confidence to experiment with music, regardless of previous experience. The approach is relaxed, so anyone interested can join without worrying about their skill level.

People from the Ravenswood area have used this opportunity to connect with others in their neighbourhood and find a comfortable environment to grow their skills. For those who may not have access to formal music classes, the availability of these affordable sessions means more community members can take part in creative activities. With Jackie Barnes facilitating, attendees have benefited from hands-on guidance as well as group practice, making each session interactive.

Small Steps Towards Greater Engagement

While the scale of the lessons is modest, the impact on individuals is visible. Attendees have mentioned discovering new interests and the enjoyment of playing alongside others, creating small but meaningful moments of interaction in their week. With its accessible location and low fee, Starting Point Neighbourhood House has enabled music education to be experienced more locally and informally in Ravenswood. This simple initiative has provided a different way for community members to gather, widening options for social participation.
