Eat Well Tasmania brought wider attention to the need for food safety rules that also allow community gardens, backyard growers, school fundraisers and neighbourhood produce swaps to thrive. Through State Manager Kate Crawford’s advocacy, and coverage in The Mercury, the contribution explained how these initiatives improve access to fresh food while building stronger local relationships. It gave the public a clear basis for considering balanced regulation that manages genuine risks without unintentionally restricting community food activity.
